If you’re planning a weekend in Pompano Beach and need a framework for it, here’s what’s worth knowing about the next couple of days.
The WSOP Circuit at Harrah’s Pompano Beach is in its third day and will run through February 9. This weekend’s events include several satellite tournaments and intermediate buy-in events building toward the Main Event. Even if you’re not playing, the casino floor during WSOP season is a different atmosphere worth experiencing at least once.
Weather this weekend is textbook South Florida January: clear skies, temperatures in the low-to-mid 70s, light wind off the ocean. This is the weather that makes the rest of the country question its life choices, and it will absolutely cooperate with any outdoor plans you have.
The Green Market runs Saturday morning as always at 50 W. Atlantic. Go early for the best vendor turnout; citrus season is at peak right now and the selection is particularly good.
For Saturday evening, Briny Irish Pub on Atlantic is reliable as always, with live music on the weekend and a crowd that’s been energized by the cooler January temperatures. The outdoor seating fills up, so either arrive early or embrace waiting at the bar.
Sunday morning: beach, pier, coffee, no rush. It’s a January weekend in Pompano. Use it.
