Spring break weekends in Pompano are electric, but there’s something to be said for the Monday morning after. The crowds thin, the parking lots breathe again, and the beach returns to something closer to its everyday self — which, it should be said, is still pretty exceptional.
If you’re working from home today, this is the week to take your laptop to a beachside café. The tourist foot traffic is in the lull between weekend waves, the local spots aren’t running on a wait, and the afternoon temperature has been landing right around 82 degrees with a breeze that makes outdoor seating genuinely pleasant.
Anglers are taking advantage of the quieter beach. The early-morning crowd at the pier has been more locals-dominant this week, which means shorter waits at the bait shop and a friendlier vibe along the rail. The pompano bite in the surf zone is still producing, and a few guys have been reporting catches into the double digits on good tide days.
Downtown Pompano is in a good rhythm right now. The mix of new and established businesses along Atlantic and Sample roads is drawing a consistent weekday lunch crowd, and the evening foot traffic has been building gradually as the weather stays warm and inviting.
The city isn’t at its loudest this week, and that’s a feature, not a bug. Pompano Beach at a regular March Monday is a genuinely good place to be.
