St. Patrick’s Day has come and gone, and Pompano Beach is doing what it always does the morning after a big night on Atlantic Boulevard — shaking it off gracefully and getting back to business. The cleanup crews were out early, the beach is immaculate, and the regulars at the pier were back at their rods by 6 a.m. as if nothing happened.
For anyone who overdid it last night, the local breakfast spots are the move this morning. A couple of the diners along Sample Road open early and do the kind of no-frills breakfast that’s genuinely therapeutic after a holiday evening. Cash-only spots with good home fries are worth knowing about.
The broader spring calendar is filling in for the back half of March. Cultural events at the Pompano Beach Cultural Arts Center, outdoor markets, and the continued run of the Music Under the Stars season are giving residents plenty of reasons to be out in the evenings beyond just the bar scene.
For a mid-week break, the Pompano Beach Library — the new facility on Dixie Highway — has been doing solid programming for families and adults. It’s a resource a lot of residents underutilize, and the building itself is worth visiting just to see what the city invested in.
March in Pompano has a good rhythm. Big weekends followed by genuinely pleasant weekdays. Take advantage of both.
