The World Series of Poker Circuit is coming to Harrah’s Pompano Beach starting January 28, and if you’ve never been to a poker tournament stop in South Florida, this one is worth knowing about.
The event runs through February 9 and includes 18 individual tournaments culminating in a $1,700 Main Event with a $1 million prize pool guarantee. That’s a serious poker tournament by any standard — drawing players from across the country who treat the winter WSOP Circuit stops as both a competition and a working vacation in South Florida.
Even if you’re not playing, there’s something genuinely interesting about the energy at a major poker tournament. The casino floor at Harrah’s during WSOP season looks different — more focused, more varied in terms of who’s there, and more alive than a typical Tuesday night.
Harrah’s Pompano Beach is one of the anchors of the city’s Powerline Road entertainment corridor and has been hosting WSOP Circuit events for years. The Main Event is the marquee, but the satellite events leading up to it are worth watching too — that’s where a lot of the interesting poker actually happens.
