Friday night in Pompano Beach in January has a particular quality to it — the weather is perfect, the snowbird crowd adds energy without yet overwhelming the city, and there are enough good options within a short drive that you really don’t need to go anywhere else.
Briny Irish Pub on Atlantic is a reliable default for a reason. Cold beer, live music, and a crowd that’s happy to be there. If you haven’t been recently, they’ve been drawing some solid acts on weekend nights, and the outdoor seating area makes January evenings about as enjoyable as an evening out can be.
If you’re in the mood for something a little more elevated, the restaurants along the beach corridor have been filling in nicely. Pier 6 Rooftop is the obvious choice for a date night — the views at sunset do a lot of the work for you.
For a low-key option, Old Town has a few spots along NE 1st Street worth checking out, particularly heading into a weekend when the neighborhood has a neighborhood feel that the beach corridor doesn’t always provide.
The bottom line: it’s Friday, it’s January, and you’re in Pompano Beach. There’s genuinely no good reason to order delivery and watch television. Pick a direction and go.
