A historic Independence Day on the beach
This year is no ordinary holiday. The 4th of July in Pompano Beach marks America’s 250th birthday, and the city is going all out with its biggest Independence Day celebration of the year. The main event unfolds right on the sand, capped by a spectacular fireworks show over the Atlantic.
The schedule for July 4th
Festivities take place at the Fisher Family Pier, 222 N. Pompano Beach Boulevard, on Saturday, July 4th, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The evening is built for families, with live entertainment leading up to the main show.
- 5:00 p.m.: the celebration begins with a live DJ setting the mood.
- Evening: live bands keep the energy high, from R&B favorites to a high-energy Beach Boys tribute.
- 9:00 p.m.: fireworks light up the sky over the ocean.
The fireworks launch from a barge just south of the pier, so nearly every spot on the beach offers a great view.
What to bring, and what to leave home
Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome, so pack what you need to get comfortable on the sand. However, organizers ask that you leave a few things behind for everyone’s safety.

- Not allowed: personal fireworks, glass containers, alcohol, personal drones, and pets.
Tips for a smooth night
Because this is the city’s largest event of the summer, plan ahead. Arrive early to find parking and claim your spot on the sand. Consider a rideshare to skip the traffic, and set a meeting point in case your group gets separated in the crowd.
Remember, too, that it is sea turtle nesting season, so pack out your trash and keep the beach clean when the show ends.
